Full House
Collections are created for all sorts of reasons: aesthetics, obsession,
commercial. Carefully or haphazardly grouped by color, shape,
type of object, or memories.
People collect art, artifacts, ephemera. Useful things may be pretty
things to the collector; one-and-the same. To a visitor, not so much.
What matters to someone may be unimportant to someone else.
But not to the collector.
Workshops build collections for people to use, stores collect to sell.
Objects may contain meaning and secrets and revelation anyone
can understand, or only a select few.
Making sense of busy, complicated spaces is a special love of
mine; my own obsession, you might say. The challenge is first
to make sense of the space for myself, and only then for a
photograph. I'm certain there are reasons even I don't quite
understand. Either way, it all adds up.
